ASE has maintained Carbon Valley Recreation Center's mechanical equipment since 2007. When the pool mechanical systems reached end of life, that service history earned ASE a seat in a two-party design competition — and the better design won the work.

The replacement program included two boilers with individual pool flat-plate heat exchangers, domestic hot water with an indirect heat exchanger and storage, and a complete pool air handling and dehumidification replacement — a large three-section unit whose delivery required coordinating trucking, CDOT, and a large crane with support.

When it mattered most

In 2023, the pool AHU's 40 HP supply fan motor failed. Within 24 hours, ASE had the unit back up and running — a repair that required a 260-ton crane mobilized with trade partner RMS Cranes. Sixteen years of familiarity with the building is what makes a 24-hour turnaround possible.

Outcome

A holistic, service-informed design that met and exceeded the district's expectations, a successful construction phase, and a relationship that continues — including a rooftop unit replacement completed in 2024.
